That URL is not correctly working. Use https://www2.liii.com/cgi-bin/env
Another one I use is https://www.fortify.net/cgi-bin/ssl_2 but today it was
not correctly working.
For testing snews I use snews://news.mozilla.org

No, lynx with SSL works fine.
