That could be the best way to do it, rather than hacking around the
current setup.  I'm not familiar enough with ncurses, and only
slightly familiar with slang, but it seems like it could be done.  

I bet that would be more usable than maintaining a list of frames to
auto-open.

I do like Heather's suggestion of displaying the largest frame in
{stead of, addition to} the NOFRAMES text.

In reality, do most pages using frames use percentage-of-actual-screen
based sizing, or do they explicitly say "N pixels wide"?  I haven't
checked the source of enough real-life pages to know how standard the
implementation is.
