At least in my case, I do very little checking of patches.  If the description
of a patch sounds like it will fix a problem I am having I might - but in
general applying patches tends to mean I end up starting from a tar file
during the next release anyways.

It seems to me that if a patch provides useful functionality only
for one site, then it is probably best for that site to maintain the
functionality itself.  If there is a case that some non-trivial percent
of lynx users/sites will benefit, then it seems like it would be better
to make the functionality available rather than multiple sites having
to develop and maintain it themselves.  

I trust TD's final judgement on the selection of what to include and exclude.
