OK ... just checking.
ALT chars, is a common euphemism for the characters above 0x7f (ie, with
the high-order-bit set). It comes from using the ALT key as another form
of shift-key to produce such chars, on many keyboards.
BTW, thanks for bringing the bug with ALT chars to my attention ... I must
have been dreaming that I tested using such chars ...
