981205 Larry Virden pointed out the existence of  TAGSOUP  in  lynx.cfg ,
in a message i deleted too quickly:

i had made  TAGSOUP  TRUE  in  lynx.cfg  for 2-8-1rel.1 ,
but it wasn't there in 2-8, when i started adding  -tagsoup ,
so i in fact have both in effect.

it's another case of the `pedants vs degenerates' running battle ...
