at the end of the trace i submitted there are 6 lines `COOKIE ... ',
whose presence is a mystery to me: the FT site never asks about cookies
-- unlike Washington Post -- & there appear to be no FT cookies in the jar.
moreover, since at the point where it fails Lynx is redrawing the screen
for a document it holds in cache & is not in contact with www.ft.com/ ,
there seems to be no reason of any kind for cookies to be consulted.
i hope someone will be able to offer some thoughts:
could Screen be interfering in some way, eg via NSL-Fork?
