lynx-dev dev23+patch bug

From: Larry W. Virden
Subject: lynx-dev dev23+patch bug
Date: Tue, 1 Sep 1998 19:17:51 -0400

Platform: Solaris 2.5.1 SPARC Sun C compiler ncurses 4.2 + patches
thru this week, lynx 2.8.1.dev23 plus the patch for the break tag.

I go to <URL:http://www.altavista.digital.com/>.
I type in the search file

doc2.zip palm

and hit search. I realize that's not exactly what I want. I move the
cursor back to the search terms. I use the left cursor to move back. I
insert a "+ at the first of the line. The text is being shifted right.
As I right arrow, I see that when the cursor hits the period the right arrow
doesn't move. I hit the right arrow again and the period is overwritten with
the z. Another right arrow and the z is overwritten with the i, etc.

Now, I try a new experiment.

I go to the end of the line.

I type abc.def
I left arrow to the a, and type "+ . I type ^L and the screen refreshes,
moving the cursor to the end of the line. Everything is fine. I left arrow
back to the a. I then right arrow to the d. The cursor 'skips' a beat
at the period as before. I then type a g . On the screen at this point I see
"+abcdgef . I type ^L, when the screen refreshes I have +"abc.dgef . So
this bug (which appeared 6 months or more ago in some part of lynx -
I think in the Goto URL code) has to do with what is being displayed, not
what is in actuality present on the line.
