i see 2 problems: (1) the level of reader at whom to aim the book:
FM is a leading expert on the Internet & its related software
& would write the definitive work on their history 1986-96:
it would have 12 - 100 readers in total & launch 2 - 3 PhD theses;
someone like Henry -- who no doubt doesn't have the time --
would write a very good beginners' guide;
(2) Lynx keeps developing, partly to keep up with the Internet itself,
so any guide would likely be out-of-date before reaching the bookstores.
there is a need for a WWW page for beginners linked from the Help pages,
which i might try to compose given a little time & encouragement;
it would need to be hosted somewhere.
