Well, it isn't a windows-only solution and at the risk of starting a
religious ware, I'll add that I know several folks who have loaded one of
the several Linux distributions on an old 386/486 machine they had
otherwise retired and use this as their local DNS machine and in some
cases as a router, firewall, printserver, etc. It actually works quite
well and the newer Linux distributions are not that bad to load and
configure.
If this doesn't sound like a viable solution for you, don't use it -- it
was just an idea ... and I agree with othr postings that I hope lynx stays
out of the DNS cache business, way too many potholes to fall into if it
goes down that path.
