LYNX-DEV help: finally!

earlier today i sent a message to lynx-dev to say that another message
from Jonathan Sergent had got lost, delaying the solution to the puzzle
i was having over getting 2-8 to find  lynx.cfg ; unfortunately, it seems
my own message has got lost on the way too ...

so to repeat: the problem was that 2-8 was picking up the wrong location
of  lynx.cfg  from  config.cache  & ignoring  userdefs.h .
when i removed  config.cache  &  config.status , did  make clean ,
then ran my configure script again & did  make  again, all went well.

so a recommendation & a question:  INSTALLATION  needs to have added
a couple of sentences warning users to do the above if they're having problems:
it's not obvious to anyone unfamiliar with  configure .
and anyway, why would 2-8 cache the location of  lynx.cfg ?
-- surely it should always obtain it from  userdefs.h -- :
maybe 2-8 should be patched to correct this behaviour.
