I wasn't going to post on this thread again, but perhaps I should
explain that this "toggles default" is what threw me off. Thanks
to Greg Marr I have gotten back on track, but now it's not toggle
that's got me confused, it's default. By default, I tend to think
of only one state, either on, or off, something that has been defined
consistently throughout. In this case, the "default" can have
either value, but in the .lynxrc explanation, I was given the impression
that the default was "on":
# or color. A value of "on" will set positioning to the left as the
                                                              ^^^^^^
# default while a value of "off" will set 'hiding' of the cursor.

# The default can be overridden via the -show_cursor command line toggle.

After hiding of the cursor, there should be another "as the default."
A better way to do this for users like me who really have neither
training in or even a basic understanding of computer language logic
might be to say (if indeed this is true):

`A value of "on" will set positioning to the left of a link, while a
value of "off" will 'hide' the cursor in the lower right of the screen.
The value set in .lynxrc will be the default for future sessions of
Lynx. This default can be overridden via the -show_cursor command
line toggle.' (And then add the `if on, then off; if off, then on'
explanation by Greg.)

Or don't have sufficient background knowledge to understand what they read.
