Okay, thanks to the efforts of those on this list, I was able to pick up
the patches to bring me up to lynx 2.7.1ac-0.113 . I compiled for
my SPARC/ Solaris 2.5.1 using Sun's 4.2 cc. I am using the xterm from
Solaris 2.5.1. I am using ncurses 4.1/patch Jan 31, 1998.
I am using this terminfo - which defines kmous.
The lynx.cfg that lynx is loading has a USE_MOUSE: TRUE in it.

The behavior I am seeing is this. I run
lynx http://www.w3.org/
When using the 3 button mouse on my SPARC I press the left button,
nothing happens. If I press the middle button, lynx behaves as if I
had pasted text.
Now, if I start lynx with a -use_mouse, the mouse seems to work.
Is there something else I need to do so that I don't need to specify
-use_mouse on the command line?
