The helper files aren't really needed any more.  What you should do is
grab http://163.51.110.11/lynxdev/INSTALLATION.gz and read through that.

It doesn't mention where to get the latest development code (which you
need for a djgpp compile) so go to http://www.slcc.edu/lynx/current/ for
that.
