obviously, it's a 2-stage problem: getting the proper character codes
& getting your terminal to display the actual characters as a result.
there was a thread on this back around 9611, which resulted in success.
anyone who is interested enough should look in the Archive
(sorry, right now i'm involved in something else: smile).
