first you have to tell us what operating system you have: UNIX VMS Win32 ;
  what version of Lynx you are using: look at Options screen: latest 2-7-1;
  and some more about exactly what you've been experiencing when.

just from what you say so far, it could be nothing to do with Lynx at all.
