  in those first 3 columns including a link.  A PRE section is aligned at
  the left margin, TAB ALIGN=0, and any element with ALIGN=LEFT attributes
  will align on the left margin without leaving the small gutter on the
  side...
  
The way I read Philip's "provided it's outside a link area" was that
there would be logic to check the neighborhood of the mouse position
for links and not execute PREV_DOC unless the coast is clear.

That's more graphical awareness than Lynx runs with, no?
