1460 is a magic number in TCP/IP: it's the largest number of bytes of
user TCP data that can fit into an ethernet packet (1500 bytes - 20
bytes each of IP and TCP header). Problems at 1460 bytes are almost
always related to the TCP/IP stack rather than the application.
Use a packet sniffer to watch the action.
