FYI

We've batted around some ideas for revising Lynx to use configure rather
than specific Makefile targets. We'll keep the list updated on any
progress we make, and when testers can have a whack at it.

well, that's where you can show the most progress. Most people won't
notice anything until you get rid of the multi-target makefile, but then
they'll appreciate the work (usually).

It's a fairly large chunk of code. Fortunately it isn't hard to read.
tin is hard to read, because of the multitude of array references (I'd
spent some time debugging its bit-map a few years ago), and had a lot
of #ifdef's (like lynx ;-).

this stuff. We've got SunOS 4.1, Solaris 2.4, 2.5, IRIX 5.2 & 6.2, CLIX, as
well as occasional AIX, SCO, HP-UX (sometimes there's network problems). So
(on weekends ;-) I usually can do some serious building. I've got no NeXT,
FreeBSD, NetBSD.

sure - he should be aware of this (now's a good time). My goal on these
is to not disturb things too much (renaming takes care of a lot of territory).
