Freeware distributed under the terms of the Gnu General Public Licence,
and therefore copyrighted.

That means that it is free to use, but there are some restrictions on
redistributors (they can't create a proprietory product from the code,
although they can produce a product which includes Lynx, provided that 
they document the fact that Lynx is not covered by any licence on the
rest of the product, but only by the GPL).  Please get and read the
full licence, as it is impossible to do it justice in one paragraph.
