Never mind.  I noticed that the error came just two if's from the end
of the world's longest if.  So I just deleted a couple of that didn't
look too important ;)

I now have a binary exacutable for VAX-VMS 6.2 with TGV Multinet 4.0.
If requested I can upload it to one of the binary sites.
