  Subject: LYNX-DEV Bookmarks reformated ?

I am unable to access my individual bookmarks.
They used to be listed by a sequence number in
a column. Now they are printed across the page
horizontally. I am unable to tab down to any
individual bookmark. I have 164 listed bookmarks.
Is that the problem - there are too many? If so,
how do I correct the problem? Thank you,
  Lewis Harmon <address@hidden>

Lewis,

You will not be able to turn the file you have now back into
usable bookmarks. Your best hope of getting those bookmarks back
is to get a copy from system backups. Please consult the
operators of your computer system. Ask if they make regular
backups of the data on the system, and can recover a copy of a
recent backup of your bookmarks file.

Do not throw the file out yet, though. If you cannot get a file
restored from system backups, you will want the titles in this
page as clues to give to a search engine as you work to find
these sites again.

The possible way you put your bookmarks into this sorry state is
to v)iew and then p)rint the bookmarks page, to a local file.
For older versions of Lynx this would indeed overwrite the .html
bookmarks file with the formatted version of the page. Later
versions of Lynx have been fixed and now offer a .txt filename as
the default filename when saving this formatted version of a file
as a local file.

While you have the system operators' attention, please mention that
there are newer versions (see <URL: http://lynx.browser.org/> of
Lynx that deal better with contemporary Web pages.
