i'm sure there's probably info on this floating around somewhere, but despite
my best efforts, i haven't been able to find it.
i've been talking to a webmaster recently who's trying to use « and
» on his pages as 'european' or 'smart' quotes - in lynx they show up as
1/2 and an upper right-hand corner (ibm high-ascii characters 171 & 187). i
know someone had mentioned recently a certain hatred towards anyone using
>€ and yet in the W3C 3.2 docs, there's a list of values >200...
would anyone care to explain what values are valid in html/lynx, and if
there's any way for him to get the quotes he wants without confusing lynx
users? at least with 2.5/2.6 the characters don't flash anymore...
thanks,
purp
