LYNX-DEV relative links with file:/ |

Hello!
With Lynx 2.5 running on a VAX with VMS 5.5 I have a problem: When I
access a URL via file:/ instead of http:// it works, but I can't select
a relative link without getting an error telling me the document cannot
be accessed.
The main reason I access with file:/ is when developing pages, since I
can type e to edit and immediately see, after exiting the editor, the
changes I have made. Usually, I edit several files and want to move
between them, retaining the file:/ instead of http:// access mode. For
obvious reasons my pages have relative links between them.
With various versions of LYNX on an unix machine, I didn't have this
problem. Therefore I think it can be solved by changing something in my
configuration.
file:/[st2f304.www.helbig]helbig.html shows up as
file://localhost/[st2f304.www.helbig]helbig.html
which might be part of the problem. Adding the disk name makes no
difference.
Thanks in advance,
Phillip Helbig
