Follow-up Comment #2, bug #58473 (project lwip):

Yes, there needs to be a zero-marker, that's fine. But the current code adds
_two_ zero-markers if the name ends with a dot.

This is part of the specification.


"Since a complete domain name ends with the root label, this leads to a
printed form which ends in a dot."
