Hi,
generally speaking you may be right, but it makes sense to me for
embedded devices.

I currently develop a new product that is autonomous but need
configuration and HTML/HTTP/IP/Ethernet is a better choice for us than
(shitty) USB on a dedicated software.
I plan to use AUTOIP only, because in this particular case, automatic
addressing on the customer's PC is easier than having them changing
networking settings to a fixed address.
