Details:
This came up on lwip-users:
It's unclear whether for UDP sockets, ioctl/FIONREAD should return "the
amount of pending data in the network buffer" (like the microsoft doc says) or
"Returns the size of the next pending datagram in the integer in bytes" (like
linux man udp says).
