That's a good idea. The current implementation 'leaves room for
improvement'...

I've checked in a slightly modified version of the patch (macros are
uppercase, defined 2 constants). Please let me know if that works for you (and
if it's correct at all, since this is the first time I've checked in from my
new computer/OS...).
