Very interesting.  My plans for Nonpareil at present include just
a single exception handler, at the user command loop, which would
in effect give the message "the last thing you tried could not be done"
plus a lower-level message generated at the point of error.  This
is a special case of Ludovic's suggestion; I wonder whether others
would be useful, e.g. to raise the level of abstraction of the
lower-level message.  Something to file away in the mental bottom
drawer.
