The current User's Guide states that Lout units of measurement
should be used in @Place, so the above example should be
@Place x{ left + 5.9c } y { top - 6.2c }
It may have been different long ago. Unfortunately, Lout is
not clever enough to recognize when illegal PostScript is being
passed through, so it fails to complain when something inside
x or y is wrong. You could type "peanut butter flavoured ice cream"
inside x or y and not get an error message.
