>From my understanding, bullets 1 and 3 are pretty much the same idea: do
the things in Lout.  Since I'm ignorant about how PDF marks work, I
don't know if this is feasible, though.  But as section tags, for
instance, are accessible from Lout code, I can't think of any reason
why producing the PDF information for bookmarks could not be done
entirely in Lout.
