I would like to have it like

This is normal text. This is italic text. 
This is the second line... 
This is a third line...

The problem is, that the text within @I {} is seen
as an object and objects are rectangular. I need Italic
text within the normal text for several lines. Just
as in TeX. But this means that the italic text will not
always be a rectangular object.
