I have the same problem.
Quick fix is the suggestion Andrew proposes. Store the contacts in a seperate file. You can maintain your contacts on one machine and copy that file to the other machines.

No contact list integration is available.
We consider this feature would be very interesting to have.
However we can't find any really standard way or framework to do that.
Also not everyone is using evolution.
Suggestions are welcome.
