I frequently have this problem too, especially between two scalewise notes  

It is especially problematic when the second note has an accidental. Often, the minimum length has to be set so wide that the score just looks weird...it doesnt flow.  

My workaround is to tweak the vertical position of the glissando, but this is a lot of extra typing if there are a lot of them in the piece.  

In cases like this, if i am writing for strings, I will move the glissando line so that it sits between two fingerings, which is not ideal, but is sometimes seen.

Is there a way to set up a "glissando" so that it acts the same as a slur?  Positioned either above or below the notes?  A customized slur shape which is a straight line, perhaps?
