You need to unfold the tremolo-repeats:

\score {
  \unfoldRepeats tremolo
  \new Staff {
    \set Staff.midiInstrument = "tuba"
    \tuba
  }
  \midi {}
}

If you want to unfold all repeats use \unfoldRepeats without specifications
