Well, it doesn't matter. Even with normal attachments, we get a completely unusable link in the digests, such as (example from the digest containing http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/lilypond-user/2012-12/msg00531.html):

A non-text attachment was scrubbed...

Size: 3958 bytes
Desc: not available

This was briefly discussed on one of the mailing lists some year back, but I don't remember the conclusion.
