Hi All,
I apologise of this has alresdy been answered as I have been ill for a
while and have not been following the list. I looked for an answer but
couldn't find one.
I think it ought to be possible to write a .ly file containing guile
code that makes lilypond do the following:
1) Read another .ly file
2) parse that file
3) convert the resulting music to .ly source code
4) write this code to a third .ly file
This could be useful if you were, for example writing a fugue. You could
use variables to represent the subject, answer, countersubject etc, and
write a first version using these. This could then be processed as above
to get a version without the variables and \transpose etc, which could
be further edited by hand. I can think of other uses too.
I don't understand the inner workings of lily enough to do it myself at
the moment, but I'm sure it ought to be possible.
Thanks
Bernard
