Don't you want the stem of the quarter note?
No, it's a triple-stop (violin) in which the lowest note is released early -- not strictly a grace note, but not notated at full value either. This is the notation recommended by the violinist who commissioned the piece.
Please include complete examples if possible, I had to guess what your macro \transparentStem did.
