In that case, possibly releasing with a "known issue" note, and explaining how Windows users could use Windows Subsystem for Linux if they have very large scores approaching memory limits?

And, then maybe have 2.24.1 release after the BDWGC fix comes down.

It looks to me like the different choices will be a matter of figuring out which set of trade-offs will be best for the entire LilyPond community, within acceptable norms for a stable release.
