Here is b) for crashing ps2pdf.  I already entered this into the Ubuntu
bug report.

Now as for a), we should try to figure out what happens with page links
in previews and/or doc snippets.

There is also the question whether the page link feature triggers the
problem anyway when converting from EPS, or only when the link is bad
(checking).  Linking to page 1 works without problem.  So it's likely
enough to fix the page link as such to stay inside the EPS.
