I don't know what you're thinking about, but it sounds quite thrilling.
Off-topic: I already told you about some possible interface
improvements I believed in; I'm kind of a newbie at all that, but I
keep learning everyday :)
What about (as I once suggested) starting by making the JPedal window
dockable into jEdit's perspective; this way users could have an
immediate (and maybe nearly-real-time, for smallest scores) visual
preview of what they're typing?
We'll talk about that on lily4jedit mailinglist, but your "visual
display" thing made me remember about that.
