that German MacOSX users are not downloading Lilypond because the web  
download page indicates is in not compatible with the most recent OS  
releases.

The English language download page has no such compatibility warning.

(In this case it seems to make sense to create a tracker for the gap  
between English and translated documentation; generally we accept that the  
translations lag behind the English version.)
