New issue 3155 by address@hidden: regularized flag style
http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=3155
I've been contacted by Karol Majewski regarding a change in flag style that
he prefers, where each fin of a flag has the same shape. He has been sent
a patch by Janek achieving this, however this patch is a straight change to
the font itself, thus changing LilyPond's behavior.
Now my own take on this is that I find the lattice-type look produced by
those flags made from the same elements confusing and ugly. The variation
in fins that the default flag style from LilyPond exhibits is indeed quite
pronounced, however. The question is whether the best course is revisiting
the amount of staggering in LilyPond flags (and seeing whether its full
extent is considered to be a best fit to the conservative design goals) or
whether it might be worth creating a separate, pronouncedly different flag
style accessible in a different manner.
I am attaching the patch Janek proposed to Karol, creating a non-standard
variant of LilyPond.
