Comment #12 on issue 2823 by address@hidden: Patch: Fixes position of mensural c clef
http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=2823@Pal: The mensural clef is closest to the ones I show above from the Dufay work, so I do want/need a clef similar to this. Ideally, such a clef would not have the top and bottom "breve" linked in the way the current one does. @Harm and Dak: I knew MGG pointed to that encyclopedia. However, despite having student access to Grove online, I have no access to that work and so have no way of assessing whether the original clef glyph was based on true information there, or on a false reading or a copying error in the original. What I can repeat is that, having looked at a large number of mensural C clefs by a variety of early copyists, there is no habit of centering the C clef on the B stave. Lilypond's current placement of the mensural C clef is simply wrong. @David: if you have actual proof of the C clef being placed on the B stave, please show it. Otherwise this change has to be accepted. @Werner: a repeat. Please state exactly how the patched version "distorts the shape". Without that information I'm unaware of any change needing to be made.
