Thank you Arun! It looks like that the Power8 system machine that we have has already installed that updated libunwind. Since it has been installed through regular packaging system, it looks like that the IBM people has added all this into their packaging repositories.

I had to look at include/libunwind-ppc64.h to know whether it is included. Is there any other way to double check this? libunwind has stick to 1.1 so many time :)
