Exactly.  If you have time to fix it, then by all means go for it!
I don't think I added this hard dependency, I'm merely documenting it
to try to prevent user frustration.

BTW, there is another build bug that happens when you build from CVS
sources.  After a `cvs update', the libtool script can sometimes have
an inconsistency (and bail out with it).  I think this is because
`libtool' is updated by config.status at a time when it shouldn't be
yet, and then appears newer than ltmain.m4sh, but uses the wrong macro
revision number.  Something like this.

But since it shouldn't happen for users of the tarball, I'm currently
not very concerned.
