How odd!  Maybe you are using a newer GNU make?  Or there is something
in your environment?  Either way, we need to find a way to filter out
the make output. :-(

With handsight, yes, bad name.  Luckily, -I is removed by --patch-11.  Do
you want me to wait for you to review it some more? Or can I invoke the 72
hour rule?  I was planning on commiting 11 and 12 tomorrow otherwise...
