Even if libtool and automake are in sync on your end, they might get
out of sync for downstream packages. Also, on Debian I believe only 1
package is allowed to own a particular file (though I also think there
are some ugly hacks around that).
Of course, the tools getting out of sync probably poses bigger
problems than this one.
