Given that AmigaOS 4.0 hasn't even been released, according to 
http://os.amiga.com/os4/ , I don't see why the working support for 
amigaos 2.x-3.x up to the latest AmigaOS version 3.9 should be removed 
from libtool. Can't you just patch the old code to apply to 
amigaos[1-3]* whereas your new code would apply to amigaos4* ?
