more GNU/FreeBSD fixes

hi!

I noticed you recently applied Bruno Haible's patch for GNU/FreeBSD
support, but it seems there are still two files in CVS that need
fixing. I'm sending a patch and ChangeLog entry for them.

here's the ChangeLog entry, the patch is attached.
