Speaking of Darwin, I have been updating the libtool periodically in
the package I support (GraphicsMagick) to track CVS libtool.  The last
update was perhaps 3-4 days ago.  The only change has been to libtool.

The configure script works for MINGW, Cygwin, Solaris, & Unixware but
no longer works on an older version of Darwin.  The behavior is quite
odd ... It is as if the current directory was altered during the
libtool configuration, but was never restored.

First this error appears:

checking for dlopen in -ldl... (cached) no
appending configuration tag "F77" to libtool
/Network/Servers/cube2/Users/bfriesen/GraphicsMagick/configure: no
such file or directory: ./libtool [22032]
/Network/Servers/cube2/Users/bfriesen/GraphicsMagick/configure: no
such file or directory: ./libtool [22039]

An later (and most significantly):

checking for gs EPS writing device... epswrite
configure: creating ./config.status
/Network/Servers/cube2/Users/bfriesen/GraphicsMagick/configure: no
such file or directory: ./config.status [40296]

There is indeed a config.status file.
